About Grange Barns

Grange Barns have recognised the growing trend in converting barns and agricultural buildings
and the attraction of living in a barn.  The company was launched by Kate Stear who has not
only sold barns and old character buildings in the UK, but also in France. Having maintained
her contacts overseas she took the opportunity to start a business she is both familiar with
and is passionate about. She has had many years experience dealing in this ever increasing
popular market. 

"People love barns as they offer a traditional build with many original features, whilst
enjoying the luxuries of modern day comforts. They prove that traditional and contemporary
styles really can compliment each other. Every barn is different and unique in some way and
will have an interesting story to tell."

Having worked for both specialist barn agencies and the country homes market, Kate knows
that those wishing to purchase a barn, either to convert themselves or one that has already
undergone conversion, will generally look to the internet to find one.  Having a website
dedicated to unique properties such as barns and other old farm buildings, offers everything
under one roof. 

“I thoroughly enjoy the experience of people buying and selling these very special homes.  It is fantastic to be involved in such an important event and making someone’s dream come true.  In 2005 I sold the largest stone built barn left in South West France, to a British buyer.  It was an amazing property of more than 1300m2.  A quarter of it had already been converted by a lovely Belgian couple.  Lawrie Stevens originally set out to purchase a vineyard in Italy but upon a chance meeting with myself, that plan all changed!  As you can see, it really is a stunning property.”

Having educated her daughter in France, Kate and her family now live back in the UK.  She has continued working in this market since her return.
